Storm Damage Roof Repairs, Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre

Following storm damage to the roof parapet larch rainscreen cladding was removed and replaced with new. The parapet wall was re-clad with aluminium sheeting and a new stainless steel handrail was manufactured and fitted.

This project was awarded to Simpson Builders following the property being badly refurbished previously. The house is Grade C listed house in the centre of Inverness.
The external works consisted of: stone lime pointing to external house wall; slate and lead works for roof alterations; laying stone paving; restoring previously blocked up windows to their original state; forming additional openings for windows/doors in keeping with existing ashlar work. A new dormer/ balcony was also formed in the existing roof.
Internally there was a new central heating system installed and 50% of the electrics required re-wiring. Shutters and sash and case windows were designed and manufactured for the new openings to match the existing. Plaster repair works were carried out including expert plaster cornice work. Timber finishings such as the skirtings were specially run to match the existing house mouldings. Temporary supports were erected in the basement in order for additional structural support beams to be installed. The existing stairs to the basement were rotten and required replacement and repair works to treads, risers and supports. New bathrooms were installed. Caithness slate was laid to the floor and the whole property was redecorated.

Plotworks, Westercraigs, Inverness
Client: Robertson Homes
Works involved excavating and pouring concrete foundations and concrete floors for all new houses. Installation of all plot drainage, utilities and services. On completion of the house builds lock block driveways, slabbed paths and topsoil were laid to complete the plotworks.
